NYS Dairy Equipment Certification Program
This voluntary program examines and certifies individuals in milking systems and mastitis control programs. Its intent is to promote uniform testing procedures and reporting of the information to dairy producers and interested parties.

A Certified Dairy Equipment Technician is certified by the Empire State Milk Quality Council to have demonstrated an understanding of milking systems, and the ability to evaluate the performance of those systems. The certified technician will be familiar with the resource materials developed to provide a basic understanding of milking equipment function and analysis, milking techniques, mastitis control programs and environmental assessment. The Certified Dairy Equipment Technician also makes a commitment to meet annual continuing education requirements to remain informed of new technological developments. The program was developed by an ad hoc committee made up of milking equipment dealers and installers, SUNY Morrisville faculty, veterinarians, NY State Department of Agriculture & Markets and Quality Milk Production Services personnel. The program operates under the auspices of the Empire State Quality Milk Council and administrative services are provided by Quality Milk Production Services at Cornell University. Financial support has been provided by the Department of Agriculture & Markets.

The certification process is a voluntary program open to anyone that installs, evaluates or maintains milking equipment such as:
