Quality Milk Production Services is pleased to announce the offering of a Proficiency Testing Program to large and mixed animal practices.

The purpose of this program is to provide an external quality assurance program to veterinary practices as a means for assessing and monitoring laboratory methods and procedures for diagnosis of intramammary infections.

This program should also serve as a valuable resource for education, self-assessment, self-confidence, and public confidence. To enroll call the laboratory at Cobleskill, 518-255-5681.

Process

The program will entail mailing two organisms to a participating veterinary practice four times a year.

Clinics will then be asked to identify the pathogens using bacteriological procedures and a form provided by QMPS. Results should be returned to QMPS within two weeks of receiving the microorganisms.

QMPS laboratory staff will then assess the results, an evaluation will be prepared and mailed to veterinary practices within a week of receiving the results from them. Incorrect results will receive further training guidelines and suggestions to ensure correct identification in the future.

QMPS will maintain a data bank and generate a quarterly report to monitor results for all participating clinics.

Service Fees

The fee for quarterly testing of pathogen analysis, I.D. forms and evaluations is $200 per year.

Methods of payment include checks, MasterCard or Visa, cash or money orders made payable to Quality Milk Production Services. Prepayment is required.
