Ynte Hein Schukken came to the program in March of 1999 as Director of the Quality Milk Production Services. He also holds the title of Professor of Epidemiology and Herd Health through the Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University.

Ynte acquired his PhD at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Prior to his employment at QMPS, he served as a practitioner, Associate Professor at Utrecht, and Post-doc at Guelph, Canada

His professional interest lies in udder health in dairy herds. He likes to approach this based on an intimate understanding epidemiology and pathobiology of the disease. Furthermore, he is interested in understanding population dynamics of infectious diseases in animal populations. His research focus has been in the application of epidemiological, statistical, and mathematical methods to animal disease research.

He likes to work with dairy producers and dairy cows. In his current job, it is possible for him to combine research, teaching, on-farm work, and interaction with "tons" of people. He states, "That is about as good as it gets."
